Living History Association
The Living History Association (LHA) takes great pride in playing an important role in
this medium. Through its lectures, programs, demonstrations, educational programs and
reenactments, people, nationwide and internationally, have experienced the past in a most
fulfilling and rewarding manner. The LHA has developed extensive resources to assist
historical reenactors and interpreters. The LHA is also very pleased to offer reenacting
units and organizations a very comprehensive and affordable insurance policy - a most
sought after, and very difficult to acquire commodity.

The Alliance
of Early American Interpreters (AEAI)
Working with historic sites around the Southeast, the AEAI brings a unique perspective to
living history events. Often called "Williamsburg on Wheels" the AEAI, allows
visitors a rare opportunity to see and interact with citizens of the past. Members of the
AEAI interpret all walks of life from wealthy Charlestown Attorneys to craftsmen to common
labourers. Such a range of interpretations is indeed hard to find outside the Colonial
Williamsburg area.

17th
Regiment of Connecticut Militia Fifes & Drums
The 17th Connecticut Fifes & Drums were reorganized in August of 1975, some 200 years
after the original 17th regiment of Connecticut militia was created. This group of
Northwest Connecticut farmers saw action at the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, the battle of
Boston, the burning of Danbury, the battle of Saratoga and the battle for New York City.
The 17th Connecticut, in addition to being a military field unit, also had a cavalry
detachment assigned to them. All members were distinguished from other Connecticut units
by the use of a feather placed in their tri-corned hats. Their gaunt appearance,
rusty equipment, and prancing horses excited the ridicule of Washington's army, until
their good service in the battle and retreat from Brooklyn Heights made them better
appreciated.
