THE LEDYARD MONUMENT
Erected by the state of Connecticut to commemorate the burning
of New London, the storming of Groton Fort, the massacre
of the Garrison, and the slaughter of Ledyard

ERECTED IN 1854
By the State of Connecticut in remeberance of the
painful events that took place in the neighbourhood
during the war of the Revolution
It commemorates the Burning of New London
the Storming of Groton Fort the massacure of
the Garrison and the slaughter of Ledyard the
brave Commander of these posts who was slain
by the Conquerors with his own Sword.
